ABOUT THE BUSINESS
Arkoun! This means thank you in Khmer. It is also an Australian social enterprise that I started when I was 13 years old. I create handmade soaps for good. All profits from the sale of my products go towards building wash houses in Cambodian schools. At the age of 13, I took a trip to Cambodia with my mum to participate in a Head, Heart and Hands Holiday program to build wash houses in schools that reduce the incidence of childhood deaths from preventable diseases. I was so impacted by what I saw that I decided to start my own social enterprise to build more wash houses in Cambodia. I launched my business Arkoun in October 2017 and have already sold over 1,500 soaps in 6 months.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTS
Arkoun soaps are all natural, ethically sourced and come in stylish recyclable packaging. My soap range includes both vegan and vegetarian options. The range also includes bamboo toothbrushes, organic cotton tote bags and recyclable greeting cards with all profits directed towards building more wash houses. A wash house provides 400 children with clean water to brush their teeth and wash their hands.
