 about

I currently have several passions in my life. They are (in no particular order):

  • Handmade jewellery

  • Animals (in particular my two dogs Anya and Xander and my two cats Riley & Tara)

  • Photography (a new found passion)

  • My partner Dave

Betsy C Jewellery began with my addiction to silver jewellery.   This addiction has been cultivated through my love of local markets. I just can’t walk past an artisan jeweller’s display without stopping and looking at everything!

Just prior to a rather large milestone birthday I discovered an artistic side I never knew I had!

I am a person that is always studying or learning something so why not learn about my addiction!  While I have never considered myself to be very artistic, I decided what the heck, why not take a course in jewellery making. I figured even if it turned out I was “artistically challenged”, at least I would understand the process.

In 2013 I took an 8 week introduction night course with Annie Broadway in Geelong. I just love, love, love her work. I also love the fact that she showcases other Australian jewellery artists in her studio.

Turns out I actually have some talent for jewellery making and absolutely love it.

Add to all this my new found love of amateur photography! I’m currently taking a course and loving every minute of it. Again, who knew I was artistic!

My only regret in life is that I only discovered silversmithing and photography recently and not in those years of trying to figure out what to do with my life!

When I am not designing and making jewellery I can be found either working at my parttime job as a web developer for a local IT company, teaching puppy school classes at a local pet store, taking photos, reading magazines and books on jewellery and/or photography, working on my website or just lounging around with Dave and my fur kids trying to decide which of the above to work on!
